“Bringing Reiki Closer: Harnessing Social Media for Distant Healing”

Maria Emeterio, a member of the RHA, shares how social media has revolutionized her Distant Reiki Sessions, offering valuable tips for using online platforms to send Reiki healing remotely (Absent Reiki Healing).

“While I still rely heavily on traditional distant healing techniques, social media has recently enabled me to connect with my clients in new and powerful ways.”

Advancing to the Second Degree of Reiki is a significant milestone for any Reiki Practitioner. This level enhances one’s healing capabilities, allowing the practitioner to send Reiki energy not only to themselves but also to family, friends, and clients, regardless of their physical location.

At this stage, the boundaries of healing practices expand infinitely. Practitioners learn about distant healing and the unseen energy frequencies that facilitate the flow of Universal Life Force to any intended recipient, transcending time and space.

Each distant session underscores the interconnectedness of all things and the way energy transcends physical barriers. With the right intention, Reiki can be offered to anyone in need, no matter how far away they are. This form of remote healing gained special significance during periods of extended separation, such as the pandemic.

The core principles of Reiki remain consistent whether the session is in-person or remote. Practitioners still need to communicate with the client beforehand to agree on the time and date, and prepare both themselves and the client energetically for the session. Distant Reiki sessions, like in-person ones, can be tailored to the recipient’s specific needs and intentions, focusing on particular areas of concern or providing general energy balancing, guided by intuition.

The primary difference with distant Reiki is the absence of the client’s physical presence, necessitating the use of specific distant Reiki methods to facilitate the energy flow.

Distant Reiki Techniques: How to Send Reiki Distantly

  1. Visualization: This method involves imagining the client being present and conducting the healing session as if they were physically there. It requires strong concentration and visualization skills, which improve with practice.
  2. Surrogates: This common method uses an item as a proxy for the client, such as a teddy bear, a pillow, or even the practitioner’s own legs by visualizing the front and back of the client’s body on each thigh.

Techniques for Sending Distant Reiki:

  • Pictures: Request a picture of your client and place it either on a surrogate or between your hands. Set your intentions for the Reiki to flow for the client’s highest good.
  • Crystals: Intuitively select crystals for the session and create a crystal grid around the client’s picture to focus the energy. For Chakra cleansing, choose a crystal for each Chakra and channel Reiki to the stones, representing each energy center.

While these traditional distant healing techniques remain essential to my Reiki practice, I have recently begun using social media to connect with clients in innovative ways. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Zoom enable me to conduct distant sessions with visual and verbal communication, eliminating the need for visualization. This allows me to maintain close energetic contact and observe clients’ physical responses to the energy in real-time.

The ability to access clients immediately has enhanced the quality of my sessions, facilitating real-time discussions about their experiences and feelings, which allows for prompt adjustments and actions to support their healing journey.

Preparing for a Virtual Distant Reiki Session Online:

I still follow traditional preparations for long-distance Reiki sessions when using social media platforms. This includes cleansing my space with sage, invoking my guides to help me be a clear conduit for Reiki, and meditating while drawing a Full Reiki Sandwich (3 x Cho Ku Rei (CKR), 3 x Sei Heiki (SK), 3 x Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (HSZSN), and 3 x CKR). I also ask for the client’s permission to tap into their energy to start the session.

Running a Virtual Distant Reiki Session Online:

As in traditional in-person sessions, I ask clients to wear comfortable clothing and begin with a welcoming chat about the session and what to expect. For virtual sessions, clients have the option to keep their camera on or off during the Reiki session.

I start by setting the intention for healing for the client’s highest good, ensuring my ego is out of the process. I instruct the client to relax and close their eyes before beginning the Reiki session. And then, it’s time for Reiki!

I begin with Gassho, going within to invite Reiki into the energy exchange. If the client keeps their camera on, I can visually focus on their chakra points and energy hotspots, monitoring their responses throughout the session. Guided by Source, I respond to intuitive messages and feedback to tailor the session and address areas needing more attention. I may also incorporate healing tools like crystals when appropriate. After the session, we can immediately discuss findings and any messages received, allowing for prompt client feedback.

Maria’s Tips for Virtual Reiki Sessions:

  • Ensure a strong Wi-Fi connection to avoid interruptions during the treatment.
  • Create a quiet, disturbance-free space for both giving and receiving Reiki, enabling complete relaxation.
  • Cleanse your area before the session, just as you would for an in-person session.
  • Test sound quality prior to the session, especially if using music or sound healing instruments, to ensure clarity for the client.
  • Explore different social platforms to find the best fit for your session style and client needs. Platforms like Facebook and Instagram are free but require being friends to make video calls. Zoom allows anyone to join via a link you create, though it may incur a monthly fee. Choose the Zoom account option that best suits your healing needs.

I close the virtual session similarly to an in-person session, beginning by sweeping the client’s aura and grounding both of us. I remind the client to drink plenty of water after the session and encourage them to jot down any sensations or insights they experienced. We can revisit these notes in future sessions.

I will always use traditional long-distance healing methods, but I truly enjoy connecting with my clients face-to-face via social media. The growth of these tools has helped bring Reiki into the mainstream, with more people becoming aware of its amazing benefits. It’s an exciting time, and I look forward to seeing how social media will continue to shape and enhance Long Distance Reiki sessions in the future.
