Quick Self-Care Tips: Perfect for When a Spa Day Isn’t an Option

One of my goals this year is to enhance my self-care routine, both physically and mentally. As a busy mom, I needed quick and easy self-care ideas.

While I’d love to spend a full day getting manicures, facials, and massages, finding the time for that is nearly impossible!

As a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom, I need budget-friendly self-care activities that I can fit into nap time or while my daughter watches her favorite show.

Here is a list of self-care ideas that take about 10 minutes. These are activities you can do daily to carve out a few moments for yourself.

The more we practice self-care, the better we can be as moms, wives, and daughters.

10-Minute Self-Care Ideas

Taking just a few minutes each day to focus on yourself can significantly impact your overall well-being. Choose your favorite self-care ideas from the list below and make time for them in your day.

Learn a New Skill

I love learning! Whether it’s to grow my business, decorate a cake, or take better pictures, learning a new skill is a great way to practice self-care.

There are many sites where you can learn a new skill for free. Spend 10 minutes a day watching a class or practicing something new.

Start a New Book

I enjoy taking 10 minutes before bed to read a book. It’s calming and helps me unwind. If you struggle to find time to read, check out tips for how busy people find time to read.

DIY Manicure

I don’t have time to go to a nail salon for an hour, but I can give myself a perfect DIY manicure at home while watching TV or listening to music. I usually do this after my daughter goes to bed to avoid her asking for a manicure too!

Take a Bath

A relaxing bath is a staple on every self-care list for a reason. It helps calm you and is easy to do. I like to light a stress-reducing candle, play spa music on Spotify, and add bath oils.

It’s simple but does wonders for my relaxation.

Meditation

I’m working on getting better at meditation. I start with 2-5 minutes of quiet time and gradually increase the duration. If meditation isn’t for you, check out these relaxation techniques for those who dislike meditating.

Use Practice Time

If finding time for self-care is difficult, use your kid’s practice time. While your child is at soccer, dance, or gymnastics, go outside! Take a quiet walk, sit in the car and read, or listen to calming music.

Once a month, during my daughter’s swim lessons, I sit in the car to relax. You could do this for just the first half of practice if your kids like you to watch.

Easy Facial

Another simple self-care idea is to give yourself a facial. There are many affordable products available, so you don’t need to go to a spa. Pick up a face mask, moisturizer, and face scrub on your next Target run.

Curbside Delivery

Shopping with kids can be stressful. Take advantage of curbside delivery services offered by Target, Walmart, most grocery stores, and drug stores. Reducing stress is one of the best self-care strategies.

Other 10-minute self-care ideas include enjoying a cup of tea, sitting outside, taking a short walk, exercising, or journaling.

As busy moms, there are many easy and realistic self-care ideas we can practice. We just need to take a short amount of time each day to focus on ourselves.
